I’m Lisa Neuman—local library director, longtime Menands resident, and dedicated volunteer. I’m running for Village Trustee because I love this village and want to give back. With years of board service and community involvement, I have the experience to protect what we value and the energy to improve what we need.
Good Governance Means Delivering For the People
🗳️ Vote for someone who will deliver for everyone!
🗳️ Vote Lisa Neuman, Village Trustee, June 17, 2025
Hello Neighbors,
I’m asking for your vote on Tuesday, June 17th, because I believe in Menands and in the power of neighbors working together to make our community even better. I’ll bring experience, dedication, and a collaborative spirit to the Board. I want to hear your ideas, address your concerns, and work with you to ensure our village thrives—today and for future generations.
Why I’m Ready to Serve
With years of experience serving on boards and staying active in our community, I’m ready to step up and serve. I’ll work hard to protect the vital services we rely on—our Police, Public Works, and Fire Departments—while finding innovative ways to improve what we offer, ensuring Menands becomes a better place to call home.
What I’ll Work For:
🌳 Parks and Green Spaces for All
In the early 2000s, I lived on Hampton Street and served on the community committee that brought the new playground to Ganser-Smith Park.
We also had an opportunity to improve the pocket park on Kingston Street, but sadly, the grant money was returned to the state, and the “park” still remains a vacant lot today. It’s perfect for a community garden!
Since moving to Glenwood Road in 2012, I’ve seen firsthand the continued neglect of Polk-Switzer Park. This forever-wild space once had a walking path, outdoor exercise stations, and a usable basketball court—but now it’s overgrown and unused.
🏡 Our neighborhoods are growing and changing, with new families moving in. We all deserve access to great amenities—right here in our own village.
💰 Fiscal Responsibility and Transparency
The Village’s required New York State Annual Financial Reports are not being filed on time, making it hard to monitor the Village’s fiscal health.
Year-to-year data comparisons are crucial for accurate revenue projections and budgeting.
The Village also doesn’t post monthly or quarterly financial updates online, as recommended by the Office of the State Comptroller.
🎓 As a graduate of the Comptroller’s Government Accounting School, I’ll ensure reports are filed on time and that clear financial data is regularly shared on the Village website.
🏪 Economic Development
As a former small business owner and a current Board Member of the award-winning RCS Community Business Association, I know the hard work it takes to open and run a business.
I’ll work to make opening a business easier in Menands.
We need to continue our economic development efforts to bring desirable businesses to Menands—so we can all experience growth and prosperity together.
📋 Policy Updates and Follow-Through
For the past three years, I’ve attended Village Board meetings and repeatedly heard talk of updating outdated policies—work that always seems to get postponed.
As a Library Director, I understand how crucial it is to have up-to-date policies and procedures. In my first two years at the library, I reviewed and updated all of our policies.
I’ll get this work back on track in the Village and ensure our employees are informed and up to date.
